Financial Donations to Relief Efforts

Direct donations of food, clothing, and cleaning supplies are important to Katrina survivors. However, there is also a need for financial contributions to those groups and organizations that are operating relief efforts in the disaster area. Please consider making a contribution to them. Please exercise care when making a financial contribution and only give to charities and organizations that are reputable.

Operation Greensboro Cares

United Way of Greensboro is pleased to announce the establishment of a local emergency relief fund called Operation Greensboro Cares. This fund is designed to support the services providing emergency and transition care for evacuees who are now in Guilford County from Hurricane Katrina ravaged areas. Please visit their website to make a donation.

American Red Cross

You can make an online donation to the American Red Cross through their website. Their online donation form allows you to specify how they should direct your contribution. You can also call them at 1-800-HELP-NOW

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is currently providing services to storm victims and first responders in the Gulf Coast states.

A $100 donation to The Salvation Army will feed a family of four for two days, provide two cases of drinking water and one household clean-up kit, containing brooms, mops, buckets, and cleaning supplies.

You can make an online donation to the Salvation Army through their website or by calling them at 1-800--SAL-ARMY.

The Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund

Our President has asked Former Presidents Bush and Clinton to head this fund. It will serve as an umbrella organization for the three special funds established by Governors of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi and will focus on collecting donations to assist in the long-term recovery plan for the states affected by this terrible tragedy. You can make a contribution to this effort through their website.
